Powell River Gardens Photography Competition

The Powell River Public Library is having a photography competition focused on local gardens. There are prizes for the winning photo and the top twelve submissions will be featured in a 2018 Calendar. The deadline is noon on Monday, June 5, 2017.

SUBMISSION GUIDELINES
Each Powell River / Powell River Regional District resident is entitled to submit one picture. The picture must be in digital format. (Print pictures can be scanned at the Library).

It must be taken in the City of Powell River or the Powell River Regional District and showcase: Outdoor ornamental gardens, vegetable gardens, orchards or human managed food forests.

The main focus of the picture should not be people, domestic animals or livestock, though they may be subjects inside of the picture. Any identifiable people in the picture must provide a photo release with the submission, authorizing the Library permission to publish the photo.

Submissions will be judged based solely on:

  • Subject Matter (representing Powell River’s gardens)
  • Photo Composition (visual impact of the photo layout)
  • Detail (sharpness, focus, depth of field, photo resolution)
  • Lighting (colour, brightness, contrast, saturation)

The image file should be larger than 2 MB in order to meet the resolution required to be a finalist.
Only entries submitted by the deadline of noon on Monday, June 5, 2017 will be eligible.

Detailed submission guidelines are available on the Library website
Good luck!
