What's Blooming Right Now?

It’s the end of October. Which flowers are still going strong? Your blogging team asked a number of Garden Club members this question. Turns out there are quite a few gorgeous blooms still out there. Here’s a selection of flowers in bloom this past weekend around Powell River.

Acidanthera bicolour murielae or Peacock flower in Jacquie’s garden.

In Margaret’s garden, Alstroemeria seems to bloom almost year round.
Chrysanthemums are still going strong.

This is Margaret's first year for Nerine.

There's a bright pop of sunshine yellow with Sue's
Helianthus x multiflorus 'Flore Pleno'.

Liz has Verbena bonariensis
and is looking forward to Viburnum and
hellebores, which aren’t quite ready to bloom yet.

In Terry’s garden, Cosmos is still blooming like crazy.

Wendy and Michael both have the purple berries of the aptly named beauty berry bush.

Michael also has a good show of dahlias, asters or Michaelmas daisies, coreopsis and anemones.

Marcie's dahlias
are much happier now that the hot summer is over.

Still in Marcie's garden, Escallonia
an evergreen shrub is displaying beautiful pink flowers

and daphne, another shrub is just starting to bloom.

Rosemary is blooming again.

Climbing nasturtiums.

Christine has a blue and pink scheme with Cosmos, Aconitum and Echinacea purpurea.

For other flowers that bloom this time of year, don’t forget to look at What’s Blooming in My Garden? the booklet published by the Garden Club that lists the flowers blooming each month throughout the year. If you don't have a copy yet, it is available for purchase at our meetings.
