A Fun Day Out?

Gary Lewis from Phoenix Perennials has sent some info regarding his

Fourth Annual Heritage Tomato Festival.

Tomato Tastings

You'll sit down at a table with a rainbow of tomato slices before you.  Gary will lead you in a tasting of about 15+ different tomatoes. He'll introduce each tomato variety , talk about the type of cultivar, its history and origins, its flavour profile and its uses in the kitchen. At the end of the session you'll take home your very own Party Mix of three plus pounds of heirloom tomatoes.

Sessions at 10am, 11am, 12pm, 1pm, 2pm. Cost $30

Preserving Workshop

You’ll learn about the different types of tomatoes and how to preserve them for future eating, which methods are best for which types of tomatoes. See the different equipment and tools and observe the techniques you need to know to be successful in your kitchen.

Instructor: Cathy Hiebert 3:30-5:30pm $14
